Christopher A. Wyett

Cofounder

Mr. Wyett is Cofounder and Chief Financial Officer of Chartwell.

Prior to cofounding Chartwell, Mr. Wyett practiced real estate & corporate law at the Boston law firm of Goulston & Storrs, from August 1998 to October 1999, and at the New York law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore, from October 1994 to June 1998.

Mr. Wyett graduated magna cum laude with an A.B. degree in economics from Harvard College in 1989 and magna cum laude with a J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1994.

Mr. Wyett is a founding Board member of the Combined Jewish Philanthropy Real Estate Next Generation Group, which is developing affordable housing for mentally disabled adults in Boston; a trustee and officer (VP – Finance) of Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Boston; Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the PJ Library of Boston; and board member of Summer Ink.

From June 2008, Mr. Wyett was President and Chief Operating Officer of Churchill Forge, Inc., which owns and manages more than 9,000 multifamily units located in South Carolina, south central Texas and New England.

Todd G. Abedon

Cofounder

Mr. Abedon is Cofounder and Chief Operating Officer of Chartwell.

Mr. Abedon graduated cum laude with a B.A. degree in History from Tufts University. Mr. Abedon began working with the Boston-based real estate investment firm of Churchill Forge, Inc. in 1988, and has been principally involved as an owner, investor and developer in the acquisition, redevelopment and management of 32 properties with a combined market value in excess of $300,000,000. In 2000, Mr. Abedon, in partnership with Mr. Wyett, launched Chartwell Management, LLC and subsequently cofounded Chartwell Holdings, LLC.

In 1997, Mr. Abedon cofounded Operation Home, a nonprofit organization providing safety, handicap access and dignity to the Charleston area’s disadvantaged and disabled residents. He is past-Chair of Charleston Mayor Joseph Riley’s Council on Homelessness and Affordable Housing and former founding board member of the Low Country Housing Trust, an advocacy group for affordable housing in the region. He also currently serves on the South Carolina Governor’s Council for Physical Fitness. In 2007, Mr. Abedon was one of 20 people from around the state of South Carolina to be chosen for the Liberty Fellowship program, an Aspen Institute leadership program focused on making South Carolina a better place for South Carolinians. In 2008, Mr. Abedon launched an effort to establish an after school squash and academic program for Charleston’s inner-city youth.

Matthew “Tripp” Moye

Director of Acquisitions

Mr. Moye joined Chartwell in 2008 as Director of Acquisitions, where he is responsible for identifying and evaluating Chartwell multifamily investments. Mr. Moye also serves on Chartwell’s Executive Committee which sets overall strategic direction for the company and determines investment strategy.

Prior to joining Chartwell, Mr. Moye spent five years working at Greystar Real Estate Partners, one of the country’s largest and most respected vertically integrated multifamily companies. During his tenure at Greystar, Mr. Moye reported directly to the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer where he focused on strategic initiatives, underwriting of investment opportunities, and the execution of development projects. Prior to joining Greystar, Mr. Moye was a investment analyst in the Real Estate Investment Banking Group of Nomura Capital and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) responsible for underwriting and securitizing commercial real estate mortgages. Mr. Moye has been involved in multifamily acquisitions with total costs of approximately $500mm and the execution of approximately $75mm in multifamily development.

Mr. Moye is an active Board Member of Operation Home, a non-profit organization based in Charleston, South Carolina. He is a member of Operation Home’s Executive Committee, Chairperson for Operation Home’s Contractor Advisory Committee, Chairperson for Operation Home’s Annual Fundraiser, and currently serves as Vice President of the Board. 

Since 2004, Mr. Moye has conducted a college internship program serving as mentor to twelve students interested in pursuing a career in real estate in coordination with the University of South Carolina, Citadel, Clemson and College of Charleston. Additionally, Mr. Moye is an active member of All Saints Lutheran Church and currently serves on the Finance Committee.

Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, Mr. Moye received his BS in Finance from The Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina (1998). Mr. Moye resides in Mt. Pleasant, SC with his wife and three children.

Jeff Kaloupek

Director of Asset Management

Jeff Kaloupek currently oversees the asset management and operational platform of Chartwell Management.

Prior to Chartwell, Mr. Kaloupek served in multiple roles during his tenure at Greystar Real Estate Partners. Most recently, he co-led Greystar’s Atlanta City office, which consisted of 45 multi-family communities – or approximately 14,500 units. During his time at Greystar, Mr. Kaloupek also served as a Director of Asset Management, overseeing the financial and operational success of a $300M owned investment portfolio in the southeast. In that capacity, Mr. Kaloupek also had responsibility for the acquisition, disposition, renovation, and refinancing of multi-family communities.

Mr. Kaloupek earned his MBA from the University of Georgia Terry College of Business in 2005 with a focus in Finance and Real Estate. He earned his BBA from James Madison University in 2000.

Kelli Stiehl

Senior Director of Operations

Ms. Stiehl joined Chartwell in January 2012 and serves as a Senior Director of Operations, applying 29 years of multi-family real estate experience to operations.   She currently directs the overall business operations of the platform, setting best practices and leading three Regional Directors in delivering premium service to residents while meeting financial goals.  Her continued focus is on delivering a high level operational excellence to increases investment returns for our owners and equity partners.

Ms. Stiehl brings to Chartwell her extensive experience directing and implementing value add renovations, high-rise, mid-rise, lease-up properties and new construction. Prior to joining Chartwell, she served as Director of Real Estate for Greystar overseeing assets in Atlanta, Texas, Alabama and Florida and she has also served as a Regional Manager for Steven D. Bell.  For both companies and also for Chartwell she has served on policy and procedure committees, establishing best practice and procedure.

Pam Culver

Director of Capital Projects

Pam joins us from RAM Partners, where she served as Area Vice President since 2010, managing a portfolio of over 1,300 units across three states. Prior to RAM Partners, Pam served in multiple progressive roles within Walton Communities based in Atlanta, GA. Most recently she led the property operations team as Senior Director of Property Management while the portfolio grew from 900 to over 3,000 units. During her time at Walton she served as Chief Operations Officer where she gained valuable experience in designing and implementing best business practices into practical property applications. Pam has extensive experience in new development, lease-up, acquisitions, dispositions, and the repositioning of assets. Pam is a seasoned leader who has a heart for instilling the sense of ownership in her team. She is active in her community and has been recognized for her community spirit. Pam is a native of Atlanta where she lives with her husband of 32 years and 4 four children.

Brenda Bedarian

Controller

Ms. Bedarian joined Chartwell in August 2013. She oversees all aspects of financial management and control, as well as managing banking, insurance, and audit and tax relationships. Previously she has been involved as Controller as well as performing due diligence related to Initial Public Offerings, mergers, or acquisitions at Marcam Corporation, Polygen Molecular Simulations, Bulmers America, TrueAdvantage and Switchboard.com.  She has also worked in the non-profit sector as Director of Accounting at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Comptroller for Associated Early Care and Education in Boston, and Director of Finance and Administration at the Consortium for Energy Efficiency. An honors graduate of Northeastern University with a BS in Business Administration, Accounting Concentration, Ms. Bedarian earned an MBA from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College.

Elisabeth Capps

Regional Community Director

With 26+ years in the multifamily industry, Elisabeth has gained extensive experience from industry leaders such as Archstone, RREEF Residential, JPI Residential and Greystar Real Estate Partners. Prior to joining Chartwell in January 2014, Elisabeth provided operational support to multiple regions during the acquisition / disposition process, leading due diligence efforts and by providing the ongoing coaching and mentoring of new associates.  Elisabeth currently oversees operations for several Chartwell properties in North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina in her role as Regional Community Director.

Elisabeth is a native of Nuernberg Germany and made Georgia her home since 1985 where she resides her husband Joseph.

Doreen Rozman

Regional Community Director

Doreen Rozman began her career in property management in 1994 with a temporary position at a local apartment community while attending college. After relocating to South Carolina from the Philadelphia market she joined Chartwell in 2013 overseeing one of the company’s largest assets. A year later, Doreen joined the leadership team at Chartwell overseeing both the daily operations of the River Falls community in the Upstate of South Carolina as well as leading four communities in the Augusta area, and now leads Chartwell teams in Augusta, Columbia, and Charlotte as a Regional Community Director.

In addition to a BA in Business Management, Doreen holds a Certified Apartment Manager designation from the National Apartment Association, is a National Apartment Association Education Institute Advanced Instructor, and actively maintains her licensing in property management for the state of South Carolina. She was also a facilitator for several years at MultiFamilyPro’s Annual Brainstorming.

Doreen currently resides in Anderson, South Carolina and enjoys spending time with her husband Dan and two daughters, Addison and Alexis.

Erin Nicholls

Operation Systems Administrator

Erin Nicholls joined the Chartwell team in January 2012. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a BA in Political Science in 2005. That same year she began her career in real estate working at two private property management firms in Tampa overseeing rental operations of 600+ units. Relocating to Spartanburg, South Carolina in 2008 she led the lease up of the Chartwell River Falls community. Under her leadership, Chartwell River Falls earned several awards for NOI stewardship and the resident satisfaction rating of “Superior” by Satisfacts. In December 2013 Erin was promoted to Operations Systems Administrator, relocating to the corporate office in Charleston, SC. She has assisted with an expansion of Chartwell’s portfolio that has included the addition of over 4000 units, has overseen the company-wide transition to revenue management, and has served as a head of Chartwell’s leadership council.

Erin currently resides in Madison, Virginia with her husband and two children.

Lisa Moran

Accounting Manager

Lisa Moran joined the Chartwell team in June 2015. As the Accounting Manager, she oversees all aspects of the accounting cycle and publication of financial statements while managing the accounting team. She works in unison with the Controller, Brenda Bedarian.

Prior to joining the Chartwell family, Lisa spent 17 years in commercial real estate. She was an Assistant Vice President / Financial Manager at Great Point Investors for 8 years where she oversaw the integrity of the quarterly financial statements from commercial properties across the US. She also was an Accounting Manager at Spaulding & Slye Colliers for 9 years where she was responsible for all aspects from producing budgets to issuing monthly financial statements. She also gained international accounting experience while working for Trans National in their UK / Canadian divisions.

She is a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston with a BS in Business Administration, Accounting concentration.

Michael Paul

Analyst

Michael Paul joined the Chartwell team full-time in June 2015. He reports directly to Tripp Moye, Director of Acquisitions, with whom he focuses on underwriting and analysis of potential investment opportunities, coordinating due diligence efforts, conducting portfolio analysis, and researching distinct portfolio- and investment-related submarkets.

Michael graduated summa cum laude from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in May 2014 with a B.S. degree in Business Administration.

He is originally from Mount Pleasant, SC where he currently resides.
